Most tumors arose in the extremities and limb girdles: 41 in the lower limbs, 35 in the upper limbs, 15 in the head and neck, and 10 in the trunk. What Is isoechoic? The term isoechoic refers to a similar pattern in which echoes are heard, usually between two or more neighboring masses of tissue. A mammary-type myofibroblastoma is a rare soft tumor; extramammary myofibroblastomas are especially rare. A 51-year-old woman presented to our department for evaluation of a mass on the right lower abdominal wall. The mass was then excised completely. Gross examination showed a huge, well-circumscribed soft tissue mass. The pathologic diagnosis was an extramammary myofibroblastoma Desmoplastic fibromas tend to be well-circumscribed but unencapsulated lesions (Figure 6.1.16). They are composed of dense, hypocellular fibrous tissue, occasionally with peripheral entrapment of fat or muscle. Individual cell nuclei are sparse and often very widely spaced. They tend to be spindled or occasionally stellate in shape (Figure 6.1. The MRI study showed a well-circumscribed, heterogeneous, soft tissue mass overlying the dorsal aspect of the second MTP joint, containing multiple internal cystic areas. ADVANCED IMAGING Schwannomas appear as enhancing homogenous or heterogeneous well circumscribed soft tissue density mass on a computed tomography. The lesions margin may not be seen on computed tomography. The soft tissue mass was easily isolated from the surrounding soft tissues. Next, we performed a complete excision of the mass. The intraoperative biopsy was not suspicious malignancy. On histopathological examination, the specimen showed a well-circumscribed lesion alternating abundant spindle cells admixed with hyalinized hypocellular areas
